Briefs: Siemens supports Infineon's Malaysia plant

Siemens said Friday it will provide the information-technology infrastructure for Infineon Technologies' semiconductor factory in Malaysia.

The German industrial group said it will be building Infineon's new plant for logic and power semiconductors for use in car and industrial power applications in Malaysia's Kulim Hi-Tech Park. About 1,700 people are expected to work at the plant once it is completed next year, Siemens said.

Siemens will be providing the telecommunications system as well as the network components.
