Canon ranked as best co. by Nikkei

Photocopying giant Canon topped a Japanese survey of top companies Tuesday.

Canon took first place as it posted record earnings for the fifth consecutive quarter amid an expansion of its operations, Japanese financial daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun said. In the previous year, Canon ranked in at fifth place in the survey.

In second place was car manufacturer Toyota Motor, followed by Internet search engine Yahoo.
