This is just one example of many how genetic engineering can benefit humanity.
If used correctly and with just a few well-thought out constraints and precautions (such as don't leave in the marker gene in the plant once it has done its job if it codes for an antibiotic), genetic engineering can greatly benefit humanity in many ways and done without any noteworthy risks.
Please don't be squeamish about genetic engineering else humanity will seriously loose out and we would all loose.
