Some sort of space-oriented mediation of the formation and accumulation of bio-molecules is the only explanation for the chirality problem: it's almost certain that only polarized UV, readily available from stellar sources, is the only agent that can selectively destroy dextro-rotary amino acids. If life arose from warm puddles, the ingredients in those puddles could not have formed in situ, or anywhere else on earth.

Well, the writing of this article is rather a confused muddle. If I understand what is reported from these studies?

The researchers have synthesized pre-biological processes. Yet have not produced the critical phase change to trigger elemental chemistry to amalgamate into self-sustaining, self-propagating micro-organisms.

There is plenty of evidence that chemical processes occur naturally in a Space. As Huels said "It is a matter of time."

However, that cuts both ways. Over billions of years chemicals combine and split apart. Bio-molecules gain fragility with larger, more complex structure. There is as yet, no evidence that even primitive biological organisms can survive, thrive, reproduce out past the Earth's mesosphere.

Yeah, but...
Why is it they are so worried about it, then, when sending probes to Mars?

Good question WG. My guess is, we like to tell scary stories arounda campfire as the night engulfs us.
