Ball's thiophosphate-hydrogen peroxide oscillator could have been a factor, but it has been long established that polynucleotides form in pores of the naturally thermally convecting thermophoresis PCR reactors that alkaline hydrothermal vents consist of. Any stricter coupling to observed evolution would mean looking into Ball's long series of papers on the subject, but it does not look encouraging.
