Indeed, it was discovered and reported upon 3-4 years ago --if memory serves-- that the very loosely-termed warming "hiatus" was actually an episode(still ongoing) of increased marine uptake of heat. This is the first study I've seen reported here at Porg that has achieved success in quantifying the actual extent of that uptake.

Additionally, id just doesn't follow that this invalidates the "consensus", in fact --just the opposite-- as this marine thermal sink mechanism has been known and understood all along --just as is pointed out in the article-- but hadn't been well-quantified to this point due to the limitations of measurement technology prior to the deployment of Argo.
