GMOs will feed the world!

"In theory" Two words that promise miracles or threaten apocalyptic failures.

We have reached the point where the number of mouths to feed requires us to put some of these theories ,carefully, to the test.

But it needs to be done away from the control of the profit motive. So that it is not illegal for the poor to use their own seed crop. And so that sales of agro-chemicals are not the motivation.
Perhaps our generation will be those who incorporate C4 photosynthesis and nitrogen fixation into crops the poor can afford. (But I doubt agri-business will let us.)

Quote "done away from the control of the profit motive"
What world are you from?
Do you do your job for free or at least argue for a lower wage? :-)

I'm from the UK:-
Universities used to create and invent without a commercial sponsor watching over their shoulder and patent lawyers rubbing their hands in anticipation. Patents used to be employed to let the inventor determine the fate of the fruits of their labour:- feed the world and get rewarded.

The proper role for commerce in the staples the poor rely on, is production and distribution not exploitation. The rich west cannot remain as parasites while the poor watch on the internet and beat their plough shears into swords.

Of course we can. It's been that way since Cain And Able. If the shoe were on the other foot it would be exactly the same.We are all human. (But technology will change it!)

Why NOT Expose them to grass rather than meat

I was kind of thinking I could expose them to you. :-)
They are Daniffs and they would love to EAT you, oops I mean MEAT you.
Scratch that, I mean MEET you. :-)
In other words have you over for dinner.

Read something interesting. (As a matter here on thee great phys.org.)

Approximately up to 40 percent, if I remember correctly, of all food world wide is wasted. Whether at the farm before it reaches the market. Or at the market before it reaches the table. Or at our table.

Perhaps we should tackle this problem first?
