By the by, giving more money to researchers wouldnt change anything unless the inability to prioritize based on importance (rather than popularity) is handled first.

fidh, adding more scientists to a problem because it's supposedly "important" is like trying to make a baby in a month with nine women. No workie. Giving them more money, however, lets them perform their experiments and measurements without interference, which works much better.

"Giving them [scientists] more money" is not an answer. During "stimulus package" days there was a concern that easy grant money would produce second rate research and waste. In addition to that research funds are not unlimited. Do we really need an army of 10000 investigators whose only contribution to civilization progress is repeating Nth time that global temperature may increase in the range from 1C to 6C "with 97% confidence" (BS TM)?
