WHERE IS THE PIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

neiorah, ^^^

This binary system is too close to be seen as separate stars orbiting each other, even using an 8 meter 'scope. Analysis of the spectrum and variation of light from CSS 41177 was used to determine the particulars (and these measurements don't really make for eye-catching imagery).

Photometry and spectra of the system can be found in the paper (natch): http://arxiv.org/abs/1105.3946

And what a binary WD system it is. The period is 2.78 hr and the primary eclipse (40 % deep) lasts a mere two minutes!

A possible target for study by future(or current) gravity wave observatories?
