'Uncharted 4' video game for PS4 snapped up worldwide

Sony announced Monday that sales of a much-awaited final installment to the hit video game series "Uncharted" topped 2.7 million copies worldwide in its opening week.

"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" made by Naughty Dog studio for PlayStation 4 consoles set a record in North America, where it became the fastest selling exclusive title for the latest-generation Sony console, according to the Japan-based entertainment titan.

"Uncharted 4," a third-person shooter game, was released on May 10.

"Millions of fans have already joined Nathan Drake on his final treasure hunt," Sony Interactive Entertainment America first party games senior director Asad Qizilbash said in a blog post.

"A huge congratulations goes out to Naughty Dog for an incredible feat."

"Uncharted 4" is billed as the last adventure of fortune hunter Nathan Drake, who is pulled from retirement for a "globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure."
