Apple to launch '06 products

Tech analysts and electronics retailers will be watching San Francisco this week to see if Apple can top the iPod.

Apple's annual Macworld Expo begins Tuesday with plenty of exhibitors and an agenda of unveilings and presentations that are so far being kept under wraps.

Apple may not be a dominant heavyweight in the overall tech and electronics market; however, analysts tell the San Francisco Chronicle that the iPod has made the Silicon Valley pioneer a force to be reckoned with in the key digital-music sector.

The scuttlebutt around Moscone Center Monday has Apple CEO Steve Jobs announcing an updated iPod or, perhaps, changes to the Mac personal computer that will allow it to be used for greater access to digital on-demand entertainment content.

Jobs will address some of the 36,000 attendees at the show on Tuesday.
