So can the white tailed deer help forests in the lower 48 states adapt?

Of course this study probably can not predict what will happen when temperatures rise to the predictions of global warming. It would be interesting to look at the fossil record for those areas and compare them with the temperatures during those period and compare it with the fossil record of other areas with different temperature ranges for both plant and animal fossil records. It might give us an idea how to best protect the diversity even better than just looking at how they fair now. I also see the danger in the idea that we can just add a few species so we don't have to worry about stopping the addition of CO2 in the atmosphere. http://rawcell.co...capture/
