The video says that Kohoutek fizzled. It might have fizzled to northern hemisphere viewers but it was beautiful in the southern hemisphere. But I guess all the important people have chosen to live in the northern hemisphere.
No. But it's distribution of angular momentum perpendicular to the plane of the solar system will be higher than for the inner solar system and the plane itself may be tilted with respect to the plane of the inner solar system.
The Oort Cloud is often depicted like it is in the diagram as a sphere or shell that ends abruptly. Can that be right?
Most astronomers think it just gets thinner and thinner until the point where galactic gravity overwhelms gravity from our sun. That might be as far as half way to Alpha Centauri. It's really just a matter of informed guess-work right now though. We'll have to wait and learn.
